Brits want the web over cars November 17, 2008 Web User
Brits place more value on the internet than they do on a car or clean clothes, according to a survey.
Processor manufacturer AMD found in its European Connectivity Study, which questioned more than 1,000 Brits, that many of us would rather do some online shopping than socialise with friends.
The research, carried out by YouGov found that 90 per cent of 18-24-year-olds owned a laptop, with 73 per cent going so far as to say they couldn't live without it.
"Although we'd like to think we're a nation who value personal relationships, the research shows that Britons' behavioural patterns are shifting to favour technology over face-to-face interaction," said life coach Dr Sally Ann Law.
"The UK population is choosing to exploit technologies such as the internet as a form of entertainment and as a way of nurturing friendships online rather than socialising in person," continued Dr Law.
