Baby P Facebook group grows November 17, 2008 Web User
A Facebook group dedicated to the memory of 'Baby P', the child who died in Haringey after suffering months of sustained abuse, now has more than 75,000 members.
The group was set up on 15 November and has received hundreds of messages from Facebook members upset and angry about the case.
"RIP poor little man, you deserved so much better in life but got let down by the system and the horrible monsters that should have been looking after you," wrote one group member.
The group intends to mark the occasion of 1 March 2009, which would have been Baby P's birthday, by releasing thousands of balloons around the country.
"The aim is to get as many people as possible in each area to join the balloon release, each tag shall have a few messages on, one for Baby P's birthday, one to ask anyone who may find the balloon to help us create awareness and one telling people how they can donate to the charity we shall be working with," wrote Jodie Crawford, the group's creator.
Details of how to get involved can be found on the group's Facebook page.
The Sun is running an online petition which has garnered more than 145,000 signatures at the last count.
