Scots top for online shopping
November 11, 2008
Web User

Shopping Scots are set to do more of their Christmas shopping online than Londoners this year, according to a survey commissioned by Verisign.

Seventy-eight per cent of Scots polled by YouGov have said that they will be shopping online this Christmas, compared to 68 per cent of Londoners.

However, Londoners are the most cautious when it comes to online shopping, with 38 per cent concerned about ID theft and fraud.

Verisign called for online retailers to do more to reassure surfers of their websites' legitimacy.

"Only informed and confident online shoppers will spend money online this Christmas," said Tim Callan of Verisign.

"More and more consumers are looking for visual cues showing that a site is secure so it's important that businesses make it obvious that their sites are legitimate," Callan continued.
